After the release of ‘Catch a Fire’ in 1973, which had introduced the charms of reggae to the west, ‘Burnin” followed only six months later. Although they were only a new act in Britain and the US, The Wailers had been performing together since 1963. The (almost) title track ‘Burnin’ and Lootin” has a tone of anger and regret, as Marley writes of his peoples circumstances: ‘All that we got, it seems we have lost.’ ‘Burnin” has been pressed as a half speed master by Abbey Road’s world-renowned engineers, producing a record of the highest quality.
